Callum Robbins
This little guy and his parents need help. I’m just going to cut and paste from the DCbaby website to give a little information:
Cal Robbins, one-year-old son of local musicians J. and Janet Robbins, has been diagnosed with the genetic motor neuron disease Type 1 SMA, or Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which kills most children before they reach their second birthday. To read more about Cal’s story and see pictures of this beautiful little boy, click here.
The family has limited health insurance coverage and no coverage for the exploration of alternative therapies that may be able to make a real difference. Their friends and colleagues in the DC music and fine arts scene are joining together to help Cal and his parents fight the good fight.
Here’s what you can do:
1) Attend the fun-draiser concert and all-ages arts event being sponsored by the Washington City Paper on the evening of Sunday, March 11 at the Black Cat (1811 14th St. NW, DC). ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of ticket sale revenue goes directly to the Robbins family in their time of need. Tix are $!5, and they’re already on sale - You can get purchase at Ticketmaster.com, at the Black Cat Box Office (no service charge), or by calling 202.397.SEAT. Hand-screened show posters and indie crafts will be for sale at the show - Making a purchase is another way to donate.
2) If you can’t make the show but you can make a donation for Cal, just click here.
Most of you who stop by here or are on my LJ flist don’t live around here, but donations are being accepted through Paypal. I know there are a lot of worthy kids and causes out there, but I read this thinking about how healthy and happy Miss M. is, and I couldn’t help but want to spread the story. He’s a beautiful little baby boy.
