Some meme-y goodness
Borrowed from Rose:
1. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times.
A Better Tomorrow. Because it’s, like, the best movie evah.
2. Name a movie that you’ve seen multiple times in the theater.
Raiders of the Lost Ark. I saw it several times in Hong Kong and once in Singapore.
3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie.
Hugo Weaving.
4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie.
Zhang Ziyi.
5. Name a movie that you can and do quote from.
I used to be able to do all of Raiders; I think I can still do Superman: The Movie.
6. Name a movie musical that you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs.
Jesus Christ Superstar; Rocky Horror Picture Show; Evita; Phantom of the Opera (sensing a theme, here?).
7. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with.
Evita. Because I love Antonio Banderas.
8. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see.
A Better Tomorrow. But only the DVD that has the good subtitles and the musical soundtrack from the original movie intact.
9. Name a movie that you own.
Samurai Fiction.
10.Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops.
Leslie Cheung. Seriously - there’s a reason I was a fan, and it wasn’t entirely his looks.
11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in?
Lots of times. My parents used to make hamburgers and fries to take with us - they always tasted best at the drive-in.
12. Ever made out in a movie?
Um…no.
13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven’t yet gotten around to it.
Name a movie I DON’T keep meaning to see…I have DVD upon DVD stacked up waiting to be watched. The one I’ve come closest to watching (had it with me last weekend, but the opportunity never came) is Perhaps Love. Bertha will kill me for not having seen it yet.
14. Ever walked out of a movie?
Yes; I thought The Shadow was far and away the stupidest movie I ever paid money to see.
15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater.
E.T.; I was a kid.
16. Popcorn?
With as much faux-butter cholesteroil on it as possible.
17. How often do go to the movies (as opposed to renting them or watching them at home)?
Um, never, anymore. Maybe once a year?
18. What’s the last movie you saw in the theater?
The Departed. It was okay. I liked the unpretentiousness of Infernal Affairs better, and I’ll almost always take Eric Tsang over Jack Nicholson.
19. What’s your favorite/preferred genre of movie?
Comedy.
20. What’s the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?
I don’t remember! Some Disney thing - probably either Dumbo or Bambi - you know, the kind meant to scar ou for life.
21. What movie do you wish you had never seen?
Graveyard of the Fireflies. I’m not kidding; I started watching it about five minutes after it had started (thus missing the critical scene at the beginning), and spent the whole thing spiralling down in this kind of “oh no they don’t” kind of disbelief about what was coming. Plus I think it’s got a kind of nationalistic subtext that doesn’t sit right with me. Evil, evil movie.
22. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed?
Postman Blues. Terrific movie.
23. What is the scariest movie you’ve seen?
Hmmm…I avoid scary movies like the plague. The most disturbing one was the remake of The House on Haunted Hill; it was an excruciatingly bad movie, plot-wise, but someone really loved the imagery enough to make it really, truly disturbing.
24. What is the funniest movie you’ve seen?
Soapdish was silly, but the scene where Kevin Kline is trying to read off a teleprompter without his glasses made me laugh until it hurt.

A Better Tomorrow - yay! I love John Woo, Chow Yun Fat, all those guys… have you ever seen Once A Thief? We love that one too - it’s so quirky!
