There and back again…
So to speak.
We just got back from my second CVS in as many years. As opposed to the one I had with MM, which was done cervically, this one was done with a needle in the abdomen. The verdict: I’d do the needle in the abdomen over the cervical catheter any day. Without going into excruciating detail, let’s just say that the cervical CVS felt incredibly invasive and left my short little legs shaking for awhile afterwards. The abdominal needle hurt, but not excessively so, and I had M. there to hold on to while it was happening.
The doctor who did it was a real sweetheart, which also helped.
So now…we wait. I’m not prepared to discuss our reasons for doing the CVS, nor what we might do with the results, but I don’t mind saying that I’m nervous to get them. It’ll probably be a week and a half or so, depending on how quickly the culture grows.
In the meantime, I measured at 12.4 weeks, which - for the record - was exactly one day off of where I thought I was. Changing ob/gyn’s is still the best decision I’ve made in awhile.
In slightly more traumatic news, MM now has a toddler bed. She’s having her nap in the crib right now, but I’m thinking of trying it out tonight…we’ll see. Maybe I’ll let her get used to having it in her room first…but I caught her trying to climb out of her crib again this morning, and since she can do that I have to race out of bed as soon as she wakes up in the morning, which is fun for nobody. If she’s in the toddler bed - and actually, you know, sleeps in it - then I can put a gate up across her doorway, let her get up and play in the morning in her room, and hopefully buy myself a little more bed time of my own.
I know she’s ready for it - I’m not sure I am, though.

I have my fingers crossed for you on both counts (the CVS and the bed!). Please keep us posted if you can, at least on the trials and tribulations of the “big girl” bed - we’re looking to make that transition in a few months too.
