One step forward, two steps back
The good news: C. weighed in at 9.02 lbs yesterday, so we officially don’t have to go and get him weighed anymore. For those of you keeping track, this is 13 oz. over his weight last week (8 lbs. 5 oz.). Told you all he does is eat.
The bad news: The “diaper rash” he’s had since he got home, pretty much, has not improved. It’s angry red little patches, and I just realized this morning that it’s oozing a bit. I’m sure it hurts like nobody’s business. So, back to the doctor we go, first thing tomorrow morning. Which means that - since we have just the one car - we need to get M. to the station at stupid o’clock in the morning, and then bolt on over to the Dr.’s office. Again.
And I never got my 15 min. in yesterday. Marauding anxieties are starting to pound on the door again; it’s starting to feel very overwhelming, and I’m doubting my ability to finish the thing when I never have five minutes to myself (or when I do, I apparently spend it blogging…).
C. didn’t sleep as well last night, so this is an especially sleep-deprived day. It’s cold, gray, and snowing outside - the kind of weather I like if a nap is somewhere in the offing. If it’s not, it just feels unspeakably dreary.
Things will improve. Just not today.

Our son had horrible diaper rashes when he was an infant. If you haven’t tried this already, my friend turned me onto Triple Paste. You can buy it in any drugstore. The big jars are ridiculously expensive but you can get a small tube to test out first. I swear it helped our son’s rash within half a day, and he had the angry, oozing kind too. No other ointment helped him. After the first tube we bought the big jars and always had them handy, as he was always prone to rashes. Maybe it’ll at least help until your appt tomorrow morning. Good luck! Congratulations on his weight too!

Thanks! I heard about Triple Paste online last night and had a look at their site - looks promising. I can’t get to the store today (no car + snow), but depending on how the appt. goes tomorrow I may look into this. It sounds like the kind of thing that could help.

Yay, glad halfmama had sound suggestion! I remember being super anal (no pun intended) about diaper rash stuff - after baths, I would slap on globs of Vaseline (for sealant) and then spread another layer of Butt Paste. Even then, LN would once in a while get signs of raw bum - which meant triple/quadriple applications a day! Ugh, it’s so hard to see your little one with raw looking red oozies.
Take a break for a couple of days - don’t let guilt hang over your head… and maybe you can get two or three 15 minutes in once things settle. *hugs* sent your way on this gray day. (It’s gray here too.)

Ugh. I hope that you are feeling a bit better. Maybe the crap weather will lull the babies into lazy sleepiness. Here’s to hoping that you get a nap in today.
